PILB Armed Security 2-Day Course
$225.00 (incl. $25 PILB fee) / Person Duration : 1st day 8hrs , 2nd day 5hrs
This is the official 2‑day NV PILB Initial Firearm Certification Course required to obtain your Armed Guard Card. Attendance on both days is mandatory.
This 13‑hour state‑mandated course includes 8 hours of classroom instruction and 5 hours of range training. The course cover safe firearm handling on and off duty, laws of arrest, use‑of‑force, deadly force, and other essential armed‑security responsibilities. Students receive classroom instruction and must qualify on the range with the handgun they intend to carry.
Important Requirements: You must be sponsored by a licensed security company and provide a VEAS Form (Verification of Employment for Armed Security). You may not work a graveyard shift before either training day.
Course Overview
Day 1 — Classroom Instruction & Written Exam
- 8 hours of classroom lecture
- Review of NV laws, safety, and armed guard responsibilities
- Written exam on course material
Items to Bring:
- Government‑issued ID
- An original Employment Verification Form (V.A.E.S. form) signed by a Registered Agent of Employer
- Current “armed” or “unarmed” work card, we cannot accept “provisional” cards.
- Water/snacks
- Note‑taking materials (tablet, laptop, or pen/paper)
Day 2 — Outdoor Range Drills & Qualification
- 5 hours of live‑fire drills
- Qualification with your duty firearm
- Safety and manipulation assessment
Items to Bring :
- Duty gun belt
- Qualifying firearm (approved by your employer)
- 200 rounds of ammunition(No steel-core, armor-piercing, tracer or incendiary rounds permitted)
- Eye & ear protection
- Level III duty holster
- Magazine pouches
- Minimum of 3 magazines
- A shooting mat or towel for use during prone shooting. (Knee or elbow pads are recommended, but not required)
- Water (highly recommended)
Firearm, Eye & Ear protection rentals and ammunition are available for an additional fee
Physical & Skill Requirements
Participants must be able to:
- Stand, kneel, and move safely on the range
- Lock slide to the rear
- Load/unload magazines
- Eject magazine from magwell
- Rack slide
- Pull trigger with index finger safely and consistently
Uniform & Safety Requirements
- Full company uniform required
- Closed‑toe shoes or security boots
- Pants with belt loops and an inner belt
- Sober; alcohol or drugs are strictly prohibited. Anyone believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be refused the use of the range.

Attendance & Refund Policy
- This is a Pass/Fail course
- All fees are NON‑REFUNDABLE
- Failure to attend either day = forfeited payment
- Late arrivals are not permitted.Missing your unarmed work card on Day 1 results in automatic rescheduling to the next available course
Important Notes
- Firearms and live ammunition are NOT permitted in the classroom per NRA/USCCA guidelines.
- The $25 licensing fee for the PILB is included in the class price, you do not need to bring any additional money orders to take this class and get your certification.
- Upon successful completion each student receives a certificate of completion, and qualification card.
- You must re-qualify with your duty gun every six months at the range. We also offer the 6-month PILB Armed Guard re-qualification if you need it.
- You must take the refresher course every five years and re-qualify to keep your card current.
